Vladimir N. Anisimov

President of the Gerontological Society at the Russian Academy of Sciences

Vladimir Nikolaevich Anisimov was born on December 7, 1945 in Leningard, graduated from the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute in 1968, MD (1984), Professor (1996), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2011).

V.N.Anisimov – president of the Gerontological Society at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Commission “Kantserogenez” and Member of the Scientific Councils and malignant Neogenic PAMN of Gerontology and Health Ministry, the Chairman of the problem commission “Physiology and biology of aging” and Member of the Scientific Council of the “Gerontology and geriatrics”; Academy of Medical Sciences and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Dissertation Council in “Gerontology and Geriatrics” and member of the board in “oncology”, the chief editor of the journal “Advances of Gerontology”, a member of the editorial boards of more than 10 international journals, a member of the International Association of Gerontology (IAGG ) and the Scientific Council of the FUTURAGE.

V.N. Anisimov was awarded the Vasilenko Prize RAMS, medals and honorary diplomas from the European branch IAGG “For outstanding achievements in the study of aging and contribute to the development of gerontological science in Europe”. His main research interests focus on the study of the relationship of aging and carcinogenesis, the role of modifying factors in their development and the search for cancer prevention and premature aging. He is the author of 20 books and more than 500 articles in scientific journals, several patents, and also he is one of the most cited Russian medical scientists. He participated in the preparation of the UN Programme of Research of aging in the 21st century in the world (2002) and in Europe (2006)
